His resume includes international record releases with the Planet Arts recording label. As a graduate of… the New School University, he was awarded the opportunity to play with the beacons of jazz. Including performing as sideman with Charlie Persip, Candido Camero, Billy Bang, The Cadillacs , Robert Glasper, Louis Reyes Rivera, Owuor apprenticed with the likes of jazz’s elite, which include masters Olu Dara, Jimmy Owens, & Chico Freeman, Owuor went on to receive his production credits from Native instruments program developer Chris List. In acknowledgment of his talent and his ability to absorb the knowledge of his elders, he was branded with the title “Young Lion”.

Upon his return to Seattle, Owuor has become an artist eager to spread the vibrations of beauty he has come to be in tune with and has assembled a local group of equally talented young artists. Artists in his group have graduated from schools such as The New School University, Cornish, Berkeley School of Music and Oberlin College. Owuor has extended the name “Young Lions” to this unique cadre of talent.

From his origin as a member of the acclaimed Garfield High School Jazz Band, Owuor has since played around the United States and toured countries around the world including Canada, Europe and South Africa.

The world has been waiting for a truly unique and original Trumpeter and jazz entrepreneur. Owuor is featured on two albums and just recently released his own album, Live in New York.

Owuor Arunga, the consumate trumpet master will take a respite from his busy touring schedule for a special performance at Faire ,Thursday, December 22, at 9pm. Mark Sampson, Grant Schroff, Darian Asplund, Farko Dosumov, Anthony Maurice Davis, Adrian Sims, Delton Son A New Orleans Native, Taprena grew up with the soul, energy and unique spirit that can only be found in the Big Easy. The daughter of a local musician, performing and simply being on stage became second nature by the age of 5. After years of training from some of the best New Orleans has to offer in dance, theatre and voice, she performed at Congo Square with the San Jacinta Dance company, and sang at Carnegie Hall all by the age of 17. She accepted a 4 year scholarship to Indiana University after graduating from the renowned New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA) known for the likes of Harry Connick Jr., the Marsalis brothers, Wendell Pierce and Anthony Mackie to name a few. While at I.U. she studied acting and toured the country as the principal female dancer for the Afro-America Dance Ensemble, and Lead Vocalist for the I.U. Soul Revue and female gospel group Sojourner. She also founded and was Artistic Director for I.U. ESSENCE, an award winning hip-hop dance company that remains active to this day.

Following graduation she moved to Atlanta where she immediately became a prominent force to be reckoned with on the underground artist scene. After a stint as a professional background vocalist, backing R&B artists such as Cherelle and Glenn Jones to name a few while concurrently running her own successful independent tour with her band, she took a “vacation” and decided to pursue theatre and has been doing Regional and Broadway Tour productions ever since.
