McQuarter’s works are political art elevating our sense of the diversity in our community. And she works to honor people of African American descent . McQuarter uses mixed media, sculpture and found objects to address racism, sexism, and colonialism in her work. Like Romare Bearden, Faith Ringold, and Lorna Simpson, McQuarter evokes the history and culture of African Americans with textiles, collage, and found imagery, but re-purposes these images for political meaning.
